A Route Map of the History of Graphic Design

This poster was the final project for the Graphic Design history class. For this project, I have taken the concept of a timeline and re-imagine it as a transit map, showcasing all the major graphic design movements from the 1800s all the way up to the modern times, with different stations denoting each major movement in history, with the number and letter on each station footnoting an example of that particular movement’s work. As history goes on, new movements began to emerge, and they would converge with other movements to form new movements, diverge to form their own movement, or fall out of favor and fade away in history. By utilizing concepts in transit maps, my goal is to present the concept of the evolution of the major graphic design movements in an easy to understand manner.
